Diaz | Anselmo Attorneys at Law is seeking a motivated Law Clerk to assist the Firm's Litigation Department in its Florida office.

This position is an excellent opportunity for a law student interested in gaining substantive, hands-on experience in civil litigation. The Law Clerk will work directly with litigation attorneys on a variety of matters involving creditors' rights, real estate and foreclosure litigation, consumer finance litigation, commercial disputes, bankruptcy-related litigation, and appellate matters.

Responsibilities:
The Law Clerk will assist attorneys with various aspects of active litigation, including:
  • Conducting legal research and prepare memorandum of law;
  • Assisting with drafting motions, responses, memoranda of law, and other pleadings;
  • Reviewing complaints, answers, affirmative defenses, discovery, and other court filings;
  • Assisting with written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions;
  • Reviewing and organizing documents, loan records, discovery materials, and evidence;
  • Researching Florida statutes, rules of procedure, and state and federal case law;
  • Assisting attorneys with preparation for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials;
  • Reviewing court dockets and monitoring litigation developments;
  • Assisting with appellate research and briefing as opportunities arise; and
  • Supporting the Litigation Department with other substantive legal projects.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will:
  • Be currently enrolled and in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school;
  • Have a strong interest in litigation and developing practical litigation skills;
  • General understanding of property law, and contracts;
  • Possess strong legal research, analytical, and writing abilities;
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Be able to manage multiple assignments and deadlines;
  • Have a professional demeanor and strong communication skills; and
  • Be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with attorneys and legal staff.

Prior law firm or litigation experience is helpful but not required. We are looking for a candidate who is willing to learn, takes initiative, and is interested in gaining meaningful exposure to the day-to-day practice of litigation.
