The Naples office of La Cava Jacobson, P.A. is currently seeking a full-time Law Clerk. As a Law Clerk, you will work directly with an experienced Medical Malpractice Partner and assist in all phases of complex medical malpractice defense litigation. This role is designed for a motivated law student, recent graduate, or early-career attorney seeking hands-on experience in litigation, case strategy, medical record analysis, and trial preparation. The position offers significant mentorship and the opportunity to assume increasing responsibility based on performance, initiative, and professional growth.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Conduct legal research on medical malpractice law, procedural rules, case law, and litigation-related issues.
  • Draft motions, memoranda, pleadings, discovery responses, and other litigation documents for attorney review.
  • Prepare case summaries, legal analyses, and research memoranda to support litigation strategy.
  • Obtain, organize, review, and analyze medical records and other case-related materials.
  • Assist in evaluating case facts and identifying relevant legal and medical issues.
  • Coordinate with medical experts and consultants regarding case preparation and expert review.
  • Support attorneys in developing case strategy, preparing witnesses, and organizing evidence.
  • Assist with trial preparation, hearings, depositions, mediations, and other litigation proceedings.
  • Manage case-related deadlines and maintain organized case files.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, experts, and support staff to ensure efficient case progression.
  • Monitor litigation schedules and assist with document management and case organization.
  • Assume additional substantive responsibilities as proficiency, knowledge, and ownership of assigned matters increase.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) candidate, recent law school graduate, or attorney eligible for a law clerk position.
  • Strong academic credentials and demonstrated interest in litigation.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Ability to review and synthesize complex medical and legal information.
  • Experience with legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis preferred.
  • Interest in medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, or civil litigation preferred.
