Description:Seeking a current law student to join our Legal Services Program during the 2025-2026 academic year and summer of 2026 as a Law Clerk. The position is through a partnership with the Ohio Access to Justice Foundation (OAJF).
Part-time 10-15 hrs/wk during school year and 28 hrs/wk during summer months, position located at the CRIS Office (4645 Executive Drive, Columbus, OH 43220), non-exempt position at a starting hourly rate of $18/hr, flexible spending account (FSA) program, paid time off, paid holidays, 403b tax-deferred retirement savings option, general hours of availability between 8:30am-4:30pm Monday through Friday with some flexibility outside of those hours based on program needs
Clerkship responsibilities include:
- Perform supervised client intakes
- Work with interpreters
- Attend USCIS interviews with attorneys
- Compile filing packets
- Fill out USCIS forms
- Attend weekly legal team meetings
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a law student
- Skilled in interpersonal and intercultural communication
- Ability to be self-directed with position responsibilities
- Resourceful, proactive problem-solving ability
- Possess professional abilities in spoken and written English language
- Preference for fluency in language/s spoken by the communities we serve, though not required
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Proficient skills with Microsoft Excel, Google Apps including Google Drive, databases, e-mail, and internet
- Participate in a required background check
