Description:

Due to the nature and responsibilities of this position it is imperative that the individual in this position be available to work on a part-time basis during the firm's office hours. The individual schedule will be determined by the managing attorney based on business needs and the law clerk based on their school schedule. Once the work schedule is set, reliability is critical.

Primary Responsibility:
Primary responsibilities include: Draft legal documents utilized in court proceedings focused on our real estate practice, such as judicial foreclosure actions and eviction actions; Coordinate service of process on defendants through process servers and other methods of service; Accurate and timely entry of data in the firm's case management system and client websites; Correspond with trial court assistants, court clerks, debtors, investors and firm clients through telephone and written communication; Access client websites to request documents, upload documents and update the client's website with accurate information regarding case status and timeline of the case filed with the court; Work closely with the managing attorney to perform other tasks or assist with special projects as they become available.

Principal Accountabilities:
  1. Answer borrower and client inquiries in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
  2. Ensure all required information is properly entered into the firm's case management system and client websites in a timely and efficient manner.
  3. Draft legal documents used in real estate proceedings filed with the court and ensure accuracy of the information contained in the legal documents.
  4. Review real estate title searches and prepare legal documents for filing, recording, mailing and publication based on the information provided by the client and contained in the title search.
  5. Coordinate service of process as required by the Arkansas Rules of Civil Procedure.
  6. Report scheduled hearings, service deadlines and foreclosure sale dates to the client in a timely manner.
  7. Identify and request from the client any missing documents and/or data needed to proceed with the legal proceeding.
  8. Performs all other duties as requested.

Required Skills / Experience:
  • Current law student who is eligible to work on a part-time basis (full time 2L or 3L or part time student).
  • Must be able to conduct professional communication via telephone and email.
  • Ability to accurately enter data and draft documents in a high-volume environment.
  • Must be PC literate and able to adapt to a variety of data base systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Preferred Skills / Experience:
  • Experience filing documents with the Federal Court and/or Bankruptcy Court.
  • Experience in the mortgage banking industry, preferably in the area of default.
  • Experience in real estate title or real estate law.
  • Experience with CaseAware, Black Knight LPS, Vendorscape, Clarifire, and Tempo.
