An Insurance Attorney is an experienced firm with a strong focus on high-stakes, complex litigation. We are currently seeking a full-time Lateral Litigation Attorney to join our dynamic team located in our Charleston, WV office. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success handling complex litigation from inception to resolution. We are looking for a self-starter who can manage a diverse caseload, collaborate effectively with a team, and bring a sophisticated understanding of litigation strategy to serve our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Case management: Independently handle all aspects of litigation, including pre-suit investigation, discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, and trial.
  • Drafting legal documents: Prepare and review complex legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
  • Court appearances: Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, and trials, presenting arguments persuasively.
  • Legal research: Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Client relations: Communicate effectively with clients and opposing counsel, providing sound legal advice and regular case updates.
  • Business development: Contribute to the firm's growth through existing and new client relationships.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission in good standing to the West Virginia state bar.
  • Minimum of 8 years of litigation experience, preferably with a background in a similar practice area (e.g., commercial litigation, insurance defense, product liability, medical malpractice, mass litigation).
  • Proven record of handling complex cases and achieving successful outcomes.
  • Exceptional research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience with all phases of litigation, including discovery and motion practice.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a heavy caseload under pressure.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
