McGuireWoods LLP is seeking a sharp, driven associate or counsel with at least 5 years of experience to join its Labor & Employment practice in the firm's Pittsburgh office.

This is front-line work within a national labor and employment practice known for its urgency, nuance, and strategic impact. Attorneys in this role advise companies, private equity sponsors, and senior executives on complex employment disputes and sensitive workforce issues that can affect enterprise value and leadership stability.

The practice regularly involves executive mobility matters, restrictive covenant litigation, protection of confidential information and trade secrets, and employment issues arising in connection with corporate transactions. Attorneys will also support employment diligence and post-transaction workforce integration in private equity and M&A deals.

You will work side-by-side with a partner known for handling sensitive, mission-critical matters where discretion and precision are paramount. You will be brought into matters early and trusted with meaningful responsibility. The role requires the ability to move quickly, think strategically, and deliver under pressure to help clients solve complex problems in real time.

Responsibilities:
Attorneys will work with partners and clients on a range of employment-related litigation and advisory matters, including:
  • Litigating restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes, including matters involving injunctive relief
  • Advising on executive mobility issues, including onboarding, departures, and incentive arrangements
  • Counseling clients on employment compliance, risk management, and sensitive personnel issues
  • Supporting employment aspects of M&A transactions, including diligence, integration, and ongoing portfolio company support
  • Assisting with internal investigations involving whistleblower or reputational concerns

Job Requirements:
  • Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of experience in labor and employment litigation or commercial litigation involving employment-related issues
  • Experience with restrictive covenant disputes, trade secrets, or unfair competition matters strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting injunction proceedings or other expedited litigation preferred
  • Strong drafting and writing skills, including experience with briefs and motions
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work product under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with corporate clients, private equity sponsors, and senior business leaders
  • Ownership mindset with intellectual curiosity, strong problem-solving instincts, and the ability to analyze complex issues quickly and exercise sound judgment
  • Willingness and desire to work with innovative technology platforms. Our attorneys leverage Harvey AI to accelerate research, streamline document drafting, and enhance analytical work, allowing associates to focus on higher-value strategic thinking and client engagement
  • Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar is required
