Description:
KSC Law. Our law firm represents labor unions in all that they do for just workplaces and rewarding careers. We also represent individuals in matters related to their employment. We litigate, counsel, and advocate in courtrooms, before agencies, at the bargaining table, and before legislative bodies.Opportunity. We seek an experienced labor and employment attorney (perhaps 3 to 8 years) to join our team. We task our attorneys with widely varying assignments to serve our clients, developed their own skills, and facilitate an opportunity to grow the firm. Our attorneys routinely represent particular employees in grievance and disciplinary matters through their unions, while also representing unions more broadly in unfair labor practice proceedings, state and federal court litigation, governance and business affairs, policy advocacy, and compliance matters. The work is wide-ranging, demanding, and rewarding. The work includes employment litigation, including wage and hour claims, some discrimination actions, and actions to enforce workplace rights. We also may be called upon to support individuals as they begin or conclude employment (as to contracts, severance, non-compete agreements, and the like).
An attorney with some book of business and a desire to grow and diversify with our support could be a welcome addition. An attorney looking to leverage a move from government service to an entrepreneurial situation could also be welcomed.
Qualifications. JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in Maryland is required. Three or more years of experience with, and knowledge of, legal issues in the workplace required. Valuable experience could come from: working at or with the NLRB or other labor boards; representing plaintiffs in employment litigation; public service involving labor relations, discrimination, or human relations; a clerkship or fellowship; and/or experience working for a union or workplace advocacy organization. Exemplary academic credentials along with strong, proven research, writing, and analytic abilities a must.
Candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to the attention of David Gray Wright.
