Description:

Our ideal candidate will have focused experience in employment law, preferably in representation of both public and private sector employers. You will be responsible for daily counseling of HR professionals and organizational leaders on federal and state wage/hour issues, leave law compliance, disability accommodation, and discrimination and retaliation issues with the goal of providing strategic thinking in avoiding and resolving employment disputes. Additional experience drafting policies, handbooks, and employment-related agreements is a plus. While not required for this position, labor law experience (or an interest in developing a labor law practice) is also a preferred qualification.

Ideally, you should be ready to hit the ground running on pending cases and immediate client needs. You will be someone who is self-directed and capable of working independently but who is also always ready, able and willing to brainstorm or assist another attorney facing a challenging legal issue. You will also be committed individually to staying current on legal trends and honing your craft as an attorney. Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Active Oregon State Bar membership (and the ability to waive into the Washington bar, if not already a member)
  • 3 or more years experience with providing employment law advice
  • Experience handling claims before the EEOC, BOLI, and other administrative agencies charged with enforcing labor and employment laws
  • Experience drafting employment policies, employment agreements, arbitration agreements, and separation agreements
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
  • Capable of working in a small team environment in which everyone's working styles and contributions are respected
  • Ability to handle a variety of matters simultaneously to meet client demands
  • Excellent research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, including public speaking
