Description:
Position Summary:The Knowledge Management Attorney – Asset Management will support the Knowledge Management Department in developing, implementing and publicizing the Firm's KM initiatives for Asset Management, including: assisting with the creation and maintenance of collections of model documents, forms, precedents, checklists and other substantive content, ensuring content is accessible from content-sharing platforms; contribute to the provision of ongoing knowledge sharing of KM tools, resources and best practices; instituting workflows and processes to improve the utilization of practice content and innovation tools; collecting practice data and facilitating access to the same; collaborating with attorneys and KM professionals to improve efficiency of the practice areas by optimizing technology, including through artificial intelligence-based solutions and document automation.
Job Relationships: Reports to Global Director of Knowledge Management and acts at the direction of practice attorneys and other KM professionals. Interacts frequently with Legal, Professional and Administrative staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in assessing the knowledge needs of the Asset Management practice and help to develop and implement plans to meet those needs.
- Identify, draft, maintain, and organize collections of model forms, practice notes, checklists, guidance materials, best practices and how-to guides, market data points, and other substantive content for practice.
- Apply automation, artificial intelligence, and other technological enhancements to relevant practice forms and content.
- Support the delivery of a broad portfolio of knowledge services for the Asset Management practice, including the monitoring of legal, market, and regulatory developments, and the preparation of communications and tailored thought leadership pieces for clients.
- Support the Asset Management practice's internal training programs.
- Monitor compliance with data collection workflows, including regular evaluation of effectiveness of data collection processes. As necessary, work with KM and other technology groups and relevant stakeholders to apply change management principles in order to develop new workflows and processes.
- Maintain practice sites and other know-how repositories and platforms, curating and classifying content for efficient retrieval, and ensuring platforms are aligned with practices' policies and needs. Facilitate sharing of attorney know-how and expertise.
- Improve workflow processes to facilitate matter management, including through process maps and technology solutions, such as automation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning tools.
- Participate in the evaluation of new and innovative KM and research tools and resources based on practice needs; participate in technology pilots and assessments, and facilitate attorney feedback on their KM technology needs and the effectiveness of potential tools. Promote attorney adoption of KM tools
- Participate in KM projects related to data modernization, including consistent use of taxonomies and other data frameworks to facilitate optimized data sharing and flow between systems.
- Liaise with IT, Business Development, and other Business Services departments to facilitate the initiatives and activities of the KM Department.
Job Specifications:
Education: J.D. required.
Experience: 3 years experience practicing in asset management, fund formation, or a similar field at a large global law firm. Experience in knowledge management role preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Possess technical legal knowledge in the asset management sector and industry knowledge, including familiarity with the major players in the industry and an understanding of terminology and resources.
- Familiarity with database and data collections efforts.
- Experience with document automation or assembly platforms.
- Understanding of artificial intelligence and associated practice tools.
- Strong operational experience with a deep understanding of technology and business process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent project management and critical thinking skills with a focus on innovation and change management.
- Commitment to knowledge-sharing; understanding of KM processes, techniques, relevant technologies and best practices.
- Familiarity with legal concepts and law firm operations management.
