Role Overview:
A Business Law Firm' Boise Office is seeking an Environmental Associate with 1 to 3 years of experience for its Environment, Land Use and Natural Resources practice. All candidates should have interest or experience in matters involving environmental laws and agency interactions, e.g., compliance counseling, permitting projects, or enforcement defense. The ideal candidate will enjoy complex legal and factual analyses requiring problem solving and critical thinking.

This attorney will assist senior attorneys who navigate our clients through routine and complex environmental compliance obligations, including obtaining permits (e.g., air, waste, water), compliance counseling (e.g., release reporting, air quality compliance, stormwater management, waste characterization and disposal), auditing and compliance program development, cleanup actions, responding to government information requests, defending investigations and enforcement actions, and citizen suit/toxic tort defense. This attorney will gain exposure to the environmental aspects of real estate and corporate transactions, including identifying and allocating environmental risks, negotiating and drafting environmental provisions of transaction documents, and obtaining and reviewing environmental site assessments and other diligence materials.

  • Courage to ask questions and to try new things;
  • Agency experience or a technical background (preferred);
  • JD from an accredited university; and
  • Active membership in or commitment to applying for the Idaho State bar.
