Job Summary:
Cajun Industries, LLC (“Cajun”) is seeking an experienced Construction Law attorney to join our team as Counsel. This role provides support across the Cajun organization on a wide variety of matters. He/she may advise Cajun's internal legal and support teams on a wide variety of issues including various contracts, safety, health, and environmental, leases, licenses, purchases, sales, real estate, employment and HR, insurance, litigation and dispute resolution, and related matters, along with other legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to ensure the company operates within the law, and champions a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, safety, employee development, customer service, and operational excellence.
  • Responsible for legal matters arising from one or more functional organizations and/or business units.
  • Draft and review various commercial and construction related agreements working with business clients to negotiate key terms and conditions.
  • Provides real-time, practical legal advice appropriate for risk exposure, risk avoidance, and dispute avoidance.
  • Coordinate with other in-house counsel to align on broader issues crossing subject matters, impacting multiple business units or organizations, state or country borders.
  • Engage the proper mix of internal and external resources to manage appropriate aspects of the legal work. This includes identifying strategies, articulating the scope of work, controlling costs, managing outside counsel and meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain organized records of all legal documents and proceedings.
  • Independently manage, or support other inhouse counsel in their management of, litigation, arbitration, and mediation processes, including discovery support.
  • Evaluate and manage outside counsel as needed.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (in technical field a plus), Juris Doctorate, and a state bar admission, preferably Texas or Louisiana, or licensed in at least one jurisdiction that allows for in-house registration with the Louisiana Bar, required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct experience in the practice of Construction Law or a related field.
  • Prior in-house experience is a plus.
