Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated, junior Associate Attorney to join our Encinitas office. We are a growing employment law firm representing employees in court and arbitration proceedings throughout the state. Our firm has a robust caseload, in federal and state courts, focusing on employment and consumer class and representative actions on behalf of employees and consumers, including wage-and-hour disputes, unfair business practices, and false advertising matters.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent research and writing skills, and a genuine passion for advocating on behalf of employees. This role offers substantial hands-on litigation experience and direct mentorship from experienced trial attorneys as you build your practice. Prior exposure to employment law, class actions, or PAGA claims is a plus but is not required.

In this role, you will work closely with senior attorneys to represent clients in legal proceedings, support court appearances and arbitrations, draft legal documents, and conduct legal research and analysis, with growing responsibility and independence as your experience develops.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in representing clients in state and federal court as well as in arbitration.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions.
  • Research complex legal issues and synthesize applicable authorities.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients.
  • Attend court appearances, with opportunities to appear independently as experience grows.
  • Assist in advising clients on legal matters.
  • Support negotiation of settlements for legal disputes.
  • Comply with all legal standards and regulations.
  • Perform administrative and case management functions related to the practice of law.
  • Assist in developing case strategy and preparing cases for trial.

Qualifications:
  • Member of the California State Bar (recently admitted attorneys and those awaiting bar exam results are encouraged to apply).
  • 0–3 years of litigation experience; judicial clerkship or law firm internship experience is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with legal documents and civil procedure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Genuine interest in employment law and passion for employee advocacy.
