Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is seeking an International Trade Associate with at least 5 to 7 years of experience to join our Governmental Practice Group. This position can be based in any of our Southern California offices (San Diego (Downtown), San Diego (Del Mar), Los Angeles, Century City, or Orange County). There is only one (1) position available.Please note: Preference will be shown to applicants based in or willing to relocate to our Orange County, Los Angeles, or Century City office locations.

We provide a full range of legal services to clients conducting international business and offer associates challenging and interesting work with a collegial team of lawyers who are passionate about what they do. The International Trade team helps clients address their most challenging sanctions, export, import, anti-bribery, and foreign investment issues. Our team practices before the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS); U.S. Department of State, Directorate of Defense trade Controls (DDTC); U.S. Department of Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC); U.S. Customs and Border Protection; U.S. Import Administration; U.S. International Trade Commission; and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
The International Trade team seeks a mid-level associate to support our full-scope international trade practice. Preference will be given to applicants with experience with 3 or more of the following areas of practice:
- Export controls (Export Administration Regulations and International Traffic in Arms Regulations) (EAR, ITAR)
- Foreign investment reviews (CFIUS)
- Economic sanctions and embargoes
- Customs law
- International trade agreements
- Antidumping and countervailing duties (AD/CVD)
- At least 5 to 7 years of international trade law experience, preferably with a large law firm or a relevant government agency
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong academic credentials
- Research and analytical skills

The salary range for this position is $310,000 - $390,000.
