Description:
Kennedys, a Legal 500 and Chambers-ranked global firm serving insurers and the London market, is seeking dynamic and talented attorneys to join its national and international insurance defense practice. The position will be based in our Chicago office.Candidates should have a strong litigation background, including proposing litigation strategy; communicating with clients and opposing counsel; drafting reports, pleadings, discovery, and motions; taking and defending depositions; arguing motions; and participating in mediations and trials.
The ideal candidates will have four to seven years of substantive experience in the defense of construction-injury and -defect, premises liability, professional liability, wrongful death, automobile liability and product liability claims.
Candidates must be admitted and good standing in Illinois. Federal court admissions are a plus.
Competitive salary, annual performance-based raises, discretionary bonus and benefits package offered. 1920-hour requirement. Hybrid work arrangements available.
Attorney compensation ranges from $140,000 to $170,000 annually. Salary is contingent upon level of experience, practice group, location and other job-related factors permitted by law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interact with clients while managing a busy case load
- Draft pleadings, discovery demands, perform legal research, answer complaints and draft dispositive motions
- Conduct depositions, argue motions and attend court hearings and trials
- Responsible for the day-to-day handling of cases filed within Illinois as well as help oversee national client accounts
Required Experience:
- Solid and proven litigation experience
- Candidate should be organized, efficient and have excellent research and writing skills
- Ability to multitask, analyze complex issues, and communicate effectively
- Substantive familiarity with the rules and procedures of the Illinois' courts
- Must be willing to work independently and manage paralegals and legal assistants
- Must be licensed to practice in Illinois
