Description:

The Role:
Are you passionate about the music industry and protecting the rights of creators? We are looking for a sharp, dynamic, persuasive In-House Attorney to join our team in Puerto Rico. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for securing public performance licenses across a variety of venues—from hotels and restaurants to concert halls and retail spaces.

This isn't just a desk job. You will be out in the field and on the phone, bridging the gap between complex copyright law and local business owners. Your goal is to ensure compliance while building positive, long-term professional relationships.

What You'll Do:
  • Negotiation & Outreach: Proactively contact and meet with venue owners and management to negotiate and execute public performance license agreements.
  • Legal Advocacy: Educate business owners on P.R. and local copyright laws regarding the public performance of music.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and finalize licensing agreements, ensuring all terms protect our interests and comply with local regulations.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Track licensing status across the island's municipalities and resolve disputes or instances of unlicensed music use through professional mediation.
  • Strategic Advisory: Provide internal updates on the legal landscape of the music industry within Puerto Rico.

Who You Are:
  • A Licensed Attorney: JD from an accredited law school. Some litigation experience preferred.
  • Copyright Knowledge: A strong foundation in Intellectual Property (IP) and Copyright law is essential.
  • Master Communicator: You can explain complex legal jargon in a way that is easy to understand. You are as comfortable in a boardroom as you are in a local café.
  • Bilingual: Native-level fluency in Spanish and professional proficiency in English are required.
  • Persuasive & Tactful: You know how to handle "tough" conversations and turn a "no" into a "yes" through negotiation and education.

Why Join Us?

  • Be at the heart of the vibrant Puerto Rican music and folklore scene.
  • Salary and commission pay.
  • Opportunity to work autonomously and manage your own outreach strategy.
