Introduction:Riceland Healthcare System is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented In-House Counsel to join our leadership support team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent law graduate or early-career attorney to gain hands-on experience in healthcare law, compliance, and corporate legal operations. The In-House Counsel will assist in providing legal support across various departments, ensuring adherence to healthcare regulations, contracts, and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities Healthcare Compliance & Risk Management
- Assist in researching and interpreting federal and state healthcare laws, including HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, CMS, and state licensing regulations.
- Support the development and maintenance of compliance programs and policies.
- Help identify potential legal risks and assist in recommending proactive solutions.
- Support the drafting, review, and organization of physician agreements, vendor contracts, and service agreements under supervision.
- Assist in maintaining the contract management system and ensuring timely renewals.
- Participate in due diligence and documentation for business initiatives as assigned.
- Provide administrative and legal support for Board meetings, policy updates, and corporate filings.
- Assist in maintaining legal records and ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards.
- Support HR and leadership in reviewing workplace policies and employee relations matters.
- Conduct research on labor laws and assist in compliance initiatives.
- Coordinate documentation for ongoing or potential legal cases.
- Assist in liaising with external counsel and maintaining case files.
Education & Training:
- Participate in training sessions on compliance, privacy, and regulatory issues.
- Assist in preparing materials and presentations for staff education on legal and compliance topics.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensure: Licensed or pending admission to the Texas State Bar (or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable time).
- Experience: 0–2 years of legal experience; prior internship or clerkship in healthcare, compliance, or corporate law is preferred.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
- Interest in healthcare law, compliance, and corporate governance.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a professional, fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with basic healthcare regulations or previous exposure to healthcare organizations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.

Working Conditions:
- Full-time position based at Riceland Healthcare System's corporate office in Beaumont, TX.
- Occasional travel to Riceland facilities for meetings or training may be required.
