MileOne Autogroup, one of the largest private automotive retail businesses in the United States, is adding to our legal department at our Towson headquarters. We are immediately hiring a full-time Attorney for our growing team.

This is a unique opportunity for an early-career Attorney to work directly on a broad range of strategic and practical contributions that actually move the company forward.

You won't be one of fifty associates waiting for meaningful work- you'll be a core contributor to a growing legal team whose responsibilities include shaping marketing policy and procedures in response to evolving regulations, managing compliance with federal and state privacy and data protection laws (including GLBA requirements), supporting the development and delivery of employee training programs, drafting and maintaining corporate records, and providing day-to-day guidance related to the company's retail operations.

This is an in-office position where you will interact directly with five other legal team colleagues and benefit from their experience. You will report directly to the Associate General Counsel. With dedicated mentors, intentional internal development and exposure to entire matters from start to finish – not a sliver of an issue with no view of how it resolves – you will improve your skills and value as a well-rounded lawyer and counselor.

What You'll Be Doing:
Contract Review and Negotiation: Put your drafting skills to work - you'll review, draft, and negotiate a diverse range of commercial agreements — software licensing one day, a commercial lease amendment the next. You'll quickly build a breadth of experience that is becoming increasingly rare to find yet more important in an age of artificial intelligence.

Regulatory Compliance: You will develop fluency across a broad range of regulatory areas (including privacy and data security, employment law, consumer credit, motor vehicle regulations, advertising compliance, and more) while simultaneously learning how MileOne's business actually operates from the inside. Over time, you won't just be answering compliance questions - you'll be helping shape the policies, procedures, and internal framework that helps safeguard our business.

Litigation Exposure: Gain courtroom experience through District Court appearances, representing MileOne as both plaintiff and defendant. Additionally, when matters require outside counsel, you'll have the opportunity to assist in providing business context and ensure the company's interests are represented effectively.

What We're Looking For:
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Maryland Bar preferred. We will consider exceptional recent law school graduates who are committed to sitting for the July bar exam.
  • Up to 4 years of experience - we are committed to developing the right candidate for the long-term
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate the implications of legal concepts for non-lawyer colleagues and external counterparties
  • Self-driven, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing deadlines independently
  • Background in advertising, motor vehicle, or consumer credit law is a plus but not a requirement
