Description:
We are a Chicago-based immigration law firm seeking an immigration attorney with removal defense experience to join our collaborative, supportive, and mission-driven team. This role will focus primarily on detained and removal defense matters and is ideal for an attorney who is confident managing cases independently while working closely with experienced colleagues.About the role:
The attorney in this position will manage their own removal defense caseload, including detained cases, with high-level strategic guidance and collaboration from the managing attorney. Responsibilities:
- Manage removal defense cases, including detained matters
- Appear before Immigration Court for master and individual hearings
- Prepare motions, briefs, bond packets, and related filings
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and families
- Collaborate closely with attorneys and staff to ensure high-quality representation
Qualifications:
- Licensed attorney in good standing (Illinois preferred)
- 3–5 years of immigration law experience, with a strong focus on removal defense
- Demonstrated experience handling detained cases independently
- Familiarity with EOIR procedures and immigration court practice
- Strong writing, advocacy, and client communication skills
