Duties:
- Advise clients on immigration options, including visas, green cards, asylum, deportation defense, and citizenship applications
- Prepare, review, and file immigration petitions, applications, and supporting documentation with government agencies
- Conduct detailed legal research using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw to stay current on immigration laws and regulations
- Represent clients in court proceedings, including court depositions and hearings, ensuring their rights are protected
- Draft legal documents such as contracts, motions, affidavits, and pleadings with precision and clarity
- Manage case files efficiently using legal case management systems; track deadlines and maintain organized records
- Negotiate with government officials and other parties to resolve complex immigration issues favorably
- Provide legal counsel on related areas such as employment law, family law, estate planning, landlord-tenant law, tribal law & regulations, securities law, workers' compensation law, environmental law, patent law, personal injury law, general & commercial litigation
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the state bar is required
- Proven experience practicing immigration law with a strong understanding of procedural law knowledge and statutory legal research methods
- Exceptional research skills utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw platforms for case analysis and legal updates
- Demonstrated ability in legal writing, drafting motions, contracts, and pleadings with clarity and professionalism
- Experience handling personal injury cases or employment law cases is a plus but not mandatory
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively for clients in court depositions and hearings
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on providing clear guidance and empathetic support
- Familiarity with court procedures including trial preparation and legal motion preparation
- Prior experience working in a law office environment managing multiple cases efficiently
- Knowledge of procedural laws across various practice areas including family law, estate planning, environmental law, securities law, tribal regulations, patent law, personal injury law, employment law case experience, and general litigation
