Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Active membership in the Florida Bar.
- Experience in immigration law, particularly in drafting legal motions, appeals, and waivers.
- Demonstrated experience handling Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ/SIJS) cases, including the Florida family court proceedings required as the first step of the SIJ process.
- Experience representing clients in family court matters related to SIJS, including dependency, custody, guardianship, and predicate order proceedings.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients before USCIS, immigration courts, Florida family courts, and other relevant tribunals.
- Manage an efficient caseload of immigration matters, including Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases.
- Prepare and file immigration petitions, legal briefs, motions, waivers, and other documents for court filings and administrative proceedings.
- Handle the family court component of SIJS cases, including preparing and obtaining SIJS predicate orders through custody, guardianship, dependency, or related proceedings.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on immigration laws, policies, and case law, particularly regarding SIJS and related immigration and family law issues.
- Represent clients in hearings, interviews, and court proceedings as necessary.
- Collaborate with clients and team members to gather necessary evidence and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of case progress, filings, and deadlines.
