Description:
Hi there! We're AlmaWe're on a mission to make immigration more accessible, transparent, and human through cutting-edge technology and thoughtful legal support. Alma is backed by top-tier investors like Bling Capital, Village Global, Forerunner, NFX, and Conviction, and founded by a diverse team of Harvard Law, HBS, and UCLA grads with experience at Cooley, McKinsey, EY, and Uber. Our legal team is made up of former Fragomen, Kramer, Ogletree, BAL attorneys and paralegals
We're looking for a creative and analytical Immigration Attorney to join our fast-growing team. This role sits at the intersection of sales and content - ideal for someone who loves client strategy, client communication and writing. You'll review visa assessments, help our AEs and prospective clients navigate eligibility questions, and turn those insights into scalable content, guides, and tools.
If you're passionate about employment-based immigration law, excited by the idea of building better legal systems, and want to work at the intersection of law, content, and technology - we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do:
As an Immigration Attorney at Alma, you'll guide our sales and client-facing teams, provide feedback on case eligibility, and slowly help us productize that expertise for scale. You'll also collaborate with our marketing teams to make immigration guidance clear, accessible, and beautifully structured. Your work will focus on:
Sales Assessments (≈ 50%)
- Review daily visa assessments from our sales team members and provide actionable legal feedback on client eligibility.
- Take consultations when requested by sales team members and help guide prospective clients toward the right visa pathway.
- Collaborate closely with our product and operations teams to standardize and “productize” the assessment process over time, to automate 80% of the standard cases, and free up time to focus on the 20% complex cases
Content & Knowledge Base Development (≈ 50%)
- Help write and edit immigration guides, FAQs, and website copy that make complex topics intuitive and human.
- Draft internal resources and product copy for Alma's portal, including client-facing explainers, templates, and workflows.
- Stay on top of regulatory changes and publish rapid, lawyer-backed “news breakdowns” that help our clients understand the impact.
- Review legal accuracy and tone on our blogs for SEO optimization
- Write scripts for educational or marketing videos (and optionally film or appear in a few).
You Should Apply If:
- You have at least 4 years of experience practicing employment-based immigration law.
- You have worked across a broad range of visa types (e.g., O-1A/B, EB-1A/B, H-1B, L-1, E-2, TN, PERM), and bonus points for having nailed some tricky Os, EB-1s
- You're licensed to practice law and hold a J.D. or LL.M. from an accredited institution.
- You're energized by collaborating cross-functionally - with sales, content, and operations teams.
- You love distilling complex law into clear writing and persuasive storytelling.
- You're proactive, curious, and excited to shape how immigration knowledge is delivered at scale.
You Should NOT Apply If:
- You're hoping for a traditional law firm role that involves day-to-day case preparation, filings, or managing active client dockets. This position focuses instead on eligibility assessments and legal content creation/review, not ongoing casework.
- You prefer work that stays strictly within legal service delivery rather than engaging with sales, marketing, or operations teams.
- You'd rather focus exclusively on established workflows than help design new frameworks, templates, and educational resources.
- You're seeking a fully defined environment - this role evolves as we scale, and the attorney will help shape what “great” looks like at the intersection of law, communication, and technology.
