Position Overview:We are a new Immigration Practice Group seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Bilingual First-Year Associate to join our team. This role provides a unique opportunity to work directly with clients and the Immigration Partner on a wide variety of immigration matters, including family-based petitions, removal defense, asylum, and humanitarian relief. As a member of our small team, you will gain immediate hands-on experience and play a key role in helping clients navigate the challenges of the U.S. immigration system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with clients to gather facts, documents, and supporting evidence for cases.
- Draft motions, briefs, legal correspondence, and applications for submission to USCIS, EOIR, and other government agencies.
- Attend USCIS interviews and immigration court hearings under attorney supervision (when permitted).
- Meet with DHS (Department of Homeland Security) Officers and DHS Attorneys to discuss client matters (training will be provided).
- Communicate with clients regularly regarding case strategy, updates, and deadlines.
- Conduct legal research and stay current on changes in immigration law, policy, and procedure.
- Collaborate with paralegals and staff to ensure accuracy and timely case filings.
- Assist in community outreach, client workshops, or pro bono projects as needed.
- Some travel is required (ICE detention facilities in Baker County, Miami and other counties - mainly in FL).
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to at least one state bar.
- Spanish fluency required.
- Prior experience in immigration law (internship, clinic, or clerkship) strongly preferred.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
