Description:

About the role:
GoodRx is seeking a Healthcare Regulatory Counsel to independently handle complex legal matters spanning employee benefits contracts, healthcare regulatory product reviews, and artificial intelligence initiatives. This role provides practical legal guidance that helps teams evaluate risk, structure agreements, and bring products and programs to market responsibly.

As a senior individual contributor, you will apply broad expertise across related legal disciplines, lead legal reviews from intake through resolution, and help prioritize competing projects. You will partner with business leaders and legal colleagues to resolve novel issues, develop scalable review processes, and escalate significant risks or matters requiring specialized expertise. This role has no direct reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Independently draft, review, and negotiate employee benefits vendor and service agreements, amendments, and renewals in partnership with Total Rewards, Procurement, Finance, and other stakeholders. Address service commitments, fees, data use, confidentiality, liability, indemnification, termination, and applicable compliance obligations.
  • Identify benefits-related regulatory and contractual issues, coordinate with privacy and security partners, and engage specialized benefits counsel on complex plan, tax, or fiduciary matters as appropriate.
  • Lead healthcare regulatory legal reviews of new and existing products, features, programs, and partnerships from concept through launch. Translate complex requirements into clear recommendations, practical alternatives, and appropriate safeguards.
  • Assess applicable federal and state healthcare requirements involving pharmacy, telehealth, professional licensure, corporate practice of medicine, healthcare fraud and abuse, referral arrangements, and consumer-facing healthcare activities; coordinate with subject matter experts as needed.
  • Review proposed AI tools, vendors, features, and use cases in partnership with Product, Engineering, Privacy, Information Security, and Compliance. Evaluate healthcare regulatory implications, intended use, data handling, transparency, human oversight, and relevant contractual protections.
  • Help develop and apply AI review criteria and approval processes; document recommendations and escalate novel, high-impact, or unresolved risks to the appropriate legal leaders and business decision makers.
  • Triage incoming contracts and regulatory projects by clarifying scope, identifying risks and dependencies, recommending priorities, and coordinating ownership across legal and business teams. Manage assigned matters through completion and communicate status and timing.
  • Exercise independent judgment on significant and ambiguous issues, explain tradeoffs to diverse stakeholders, and recommend actionable paths that support business objectives and appropriate risk management.
  • Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments, assess their implications for GoodRx, and recommend updates to contracts, product requirements, internal guidance, and review practices.
  • Develop templates, contract playbooks, review checklists, and training that improve consistency and efficiency. Serve as a trusted subject matter resource and contribute to cross-functional initiatives and other legal matters as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar, with eligibility to practice in the jurisdiction required for the role.
  • At least 8 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination, including substantial healthcare regulatory counseling and commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Experience reviewing employee benefits' vendors or service agreements and identifying issues that require specialized benefits, privacy, or security expertise.
  • Experience advising healthcare, digital health, or technology businesses on product development, commercial arrangements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to independently manage complex, novel matters, evaluate incomplete information, and provide clear, practical recommendations with sound escalation judgment.
  • Strong negotiation, legal research, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build effective relationships across functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize a varied workload, coordinate multiple reviewers, and improve legal processes in a fast-moving environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • In-house experience at a healthcare technology, pharmacy, telehealth, or consumer healthcare company.
  • Experience evaluating AI-enabled products, enterprise AI tools, or AI vendor agreements and supporting AI governance processes.
  • Familiarity with employee benefits frameworks, including ERISA, and healthcare privacy requirements, including HIPAA, as relevant to contracts and product reviews and familiarity with third party benefits administration.
