The Global Counsel Products, Aviation and Government Sales provides legal guidance and expertise for strategic functions globally. This position plays a key role in proactively managing risks associated with product-related matters, sales and distribution activities within scope, through training and coaching, as well as the creation and implementation of efficient governance processes and standards in assigned areas. The role demands a strong business-orientation, deep legal expertise in product, procurement/tenders, and contract management, as well as ability to handle complex global issues.

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Broad Business and Functional Experience:
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in primary areas of responsibility
  • Monitor legal developments and trends and makes recommendations to management on how to respond
  • Experience working on international projects and matters
  • Understand the connection between the business objective and the role in achieving that objective
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and standards across the organization

Customer-Facing (Including Internal Customers) Role:

  • Experience in building relationships with in-scope leaders, their direct reports, outside counsel, regulators, OEMs) and similar third parties
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product and other teams to ensure that legal considerations are integrated into business decisions and strategies
  • Provide regulatory, sales and distribution support by advising on the legal aspects of products, aviation and government sales (North America) activities (includes ensuring compliance with regulations and policies, as well as drafting and negotiating contracts, including complex business-to-business agreements)

Business Acumen:

  • Demonstrate consistent understanding of business drivers in the application of legal expertise (gaining a broad knowledge within the function)
  • Oversee original equipment (OE), aviation and government sales (NA) agreements, coordinating global contracts/initiatives, facilitating local/expert support (as needed)
  • Provide advice and manage the legal risks associated with in-scope activities (including potential litigation and reputational damage)

Track Record of Delivering Results:

  • Contribute to Law department strategic initiatives/projects in assigned areas
  • Manage budgets (i.e., case, matter, project, tenders, outside counsel)
  • Develop/Maintain global policies, templates and playbooks to drive cross-functional efficiencies
  • Develop and provide training and lessons learned to minimize future risk to the company

Key Experience

  • 10 or more years of experience at a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Law degree from an accredited law school and a member of the Bar (no need to be state specific)
