Responsibilities:
- Defend clients in a broad range of general liability and/or professional liability matters
- Investigate claims and defenses, analyze liability and damages, and develop case handling strategies
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Draft letters, memos, motions, and pleadings
- Prepare discovery requests/responses and take/defend depositions
- Represent clients at court conferences, hearings, mediations, and trial/arbitration
- Communicate regularly with partners, associates, paralegals, clients, and opposing counsel
- Meet a 1,850 annual billable hours requirement
Skills & Requirements:
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
- Current California Bar admission in good standing
- 3+ years of experience with general liability and/or professional liability litigation
- Excellent writer with strong attention to detail
- Effective oral communication skills
- Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and responsiveness
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of current California state and federal court procedures
- Comfortable handling court appearances; experience with depositions and mediations required
- Trial experience preferred but not required
