We are seeking an experienced General Counsel, VP of Corporate Compliance to provide strategic, business-minded legal guidance that empowers our lending operations while protecting our company's reputation and interests. In this critical onsite role, you'll be the primary legal partner to senior leadership, helping us navigate the complex regulatory landscape of the auto finance industry. You'll manage legal affairs, strengthen compliance practices, and ensure we continue delivering trusted financial solutions to our customers.

What You'll Do:
  • Advise senior leaders on a wide range of legal issues, helping shape An Industry-Leading Auto Finance Company strategy and risk and compliance posture.
  • Act as the lead legal advisor on major business transactions, ensuring contracts meet legal, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Oversee and manage outside counsel relationships, including litigation strategy.
  • Respond to customer demands, balancing legal requirements with customer service goals.
  • Draft, negotiate, and execute contracts that support business success while protecting An Industry-Leading Auto Finance Company interests.
  • Interpret complex legal and regulatory requirements, making them clear and actionable for business partners.
  • Monitor evolving legislation, particularly those impacting consumer lending and auto finance.
  • Support internal stakeholders through training and communication on key legal issues.
  • Manage licensing requirements, state regulatory audits, and credit reporting obligations.
  • Assist with corporate governance and board matters.
  • Tackle other legal duties as assigned, helping the business thrive while staying compliant.

What you bring:
  • Education: J.D. from an accredited law school with active bar admission.
  • Experience: 5–8 years of relevant legal experience in financial services, consumer lending, or auto finance.
  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of consumer lending laws, compliance, and payments regulations. Expertise with applicable laws such as the FDCPA, TILA, FCRA, and CFPB regulations.
  • Business Orientation: Proven track record of balancing legal requirements with business objectives.
