As a trusted name in New Mexico, we're committed to service excellence and as we grow, our Risk Management team plays a key role in protecting our company, employees, and customers from legal, contractual, and compliance risks.We are seeking an experienced General Counsel to join our Risk Management team. The General Counsel will play a key role in protecting TLC's interests, guiding leadership decisions, and ensuring legal integrity in every aspect of our business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the Risk Management team.
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
- Provide legal guidance on real estate transactions, mergers, and acquisitions, ensuring compliance and company interests.
- Oversee litigation, claims, and dispute resolution.
- Direct outside counsel and manage relationships with insurers.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Partner with leadership to develop risk management strategies.
- Lead and mentor the paralegal/risk management team.
Key Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) and licensed to practice in New Mexico (or ability to obtain quickly).
- 5+ years of legal experience, with strong background in contracts, litigation, and compliance.
- Experience in construction, utilities, or related industries preferred.
- Business-minded legal advisor with strong communication skills.
- Proven ability to balance risk with operational goals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with contract/claims management software.
