The New York office of Jones Day is seeking an ambitious mid-level associate to join its Financial Markets practice. With nearly 320 lawyers worldwide, the Financial Markets practice advises on the full range of complex cross-border financial transactions, representing a diverse client base of global financial institutions, borrowers, funds, and asset managers.Associates in this role will work on sophisticated lending and leveraged finance matters, representing both borrowers and sponsors as well as lenders and agents across syndicated and bilateral credit facilities, acquisition financings, and other financing structures. The work also draws on the firm's cross-practice Private Credit team as well as the firm's Business Restructuring & Reorganization practice, which handles liability management exercises, out-of-court workouts, and debtor-in-possession financings.
Qualified candidates should have 3–7 years of experience at a major law firm drafting and negotiating credit agreements, intercreditor agreements, and related financing documentation. Ideal candidates will bring:
- Substantive experience on both the borrower/sponsor side and the lender/agent side of leveraged finance transactions
- Interest in or familiarity with private credit deal structures and documentation
- Interest in or exposure to distressed or restructuring-related financings and liability management transactions
- Excellent drafting and analytical skills, a superior academic background, and strong attention to detail
- A desire for significant client responsibility, hands-on deal management, and collaborative teamwork
