Overview:Montana Opportunity. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Family Law Attorney to join our team in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law, including divorce, custody, support, and adoption matters. Responsibilities include client intake, client communications, drafting and reviewing pleadings, conducting legal research, managing client communications, preparing for hearings, and representing clients in virtual court proceedings where permitted. Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive client matters with discretion and empathy are essential.

Our firm utilizes an online case management system that allows all staff to communicate and manage all cases internally without the need of a dedicated in office atmosphere. Other attorneys and staff are available to cover in person court hearings and client meetings when necessary.
This position offers the flexibility of working remotely while supporting clients with compassionate and effective legal advocacy. Candidates must be licensed and in good standing with the Montana Bar at the time of application to be considered for this position. Prior family law experience as an attorney is required for this position . We are looking for a professional who can work independently, manage deadlines efficiently, and contribute to a collaborative team environment committed to client-centered service. The Firm is responsible for obtaining clients, but this position requires the candidate to have access to a telephone to speak to clients and staff as well as computer and internet access for case management purposes, filings and email related tasks. Must be able to handle a new case from intake to finish including working knowledge of divorce, parenting plans, support calculations, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Familiarity in Montana family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and adoption matters.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests related to family law cases and familiar with standard calculations.
- Manage case files and maintain organized records of all documentation and correspondence.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in family law matters to gather information and provide updates.
- Prepare for court hearings by organizing exhibits and evidence for presentation.
- Collaborate with attorneys on negotiations and settlement discussions.
- Stay updated on changes in family law regulations and practices to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
- Proven prior experience as a Montana Attorney, preferably within family law or related fields.
- Active and in Good Standing with the Montana Bar.
- Proficiency in legal research techniques and tools such Westlaw.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
- Strong negotiation skills with the capability to assist attorneys during settlement discussions.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple cases effectively.
