Description:

Our Approach
At BTL, we believe in helping clients through these cases as efficiently and affordably as possible. We are resolution-focused, because that approach often produces the best outcome for our clients — but we are always prepared to litigate when litigation is what the case requires. We are genuinely empathetic to our clients' situations and are here to support them, but we pride ourselves on giving straightforward advice and honest opinions, not empty reassurance. We handle high-conflict litigation, but we do it in a way that reduces conflict where we can, avoids costly litigation where it won't benefit the client, and helps clients see past the immediate issue to how today's decisions affect their future.

Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Lead Attorney to join our growing family law team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Arizona family law, excellent communication and advocacy skills, and a genuine passion for helping clients achieve their goals.

This role works predominantly from our Scottsdale office, with flexibility to work remotely where appropriate. That said, we believe strongly in in-person collaboration — being in the office gives you direct access to the insight and mentorship of our more senior attorneys, and we build that into how the team works day to day, including a weekly in-person case list meeting.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal counsel and representation to clients in various family law matters, including Dissolution, Establishment, Modification, Enforcement, Third-Party Rights, etc.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Negotiate settlements and represent clients in court hearings and trials.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide regular updates on case progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure efficient case management.
  • Meet the Firm's billable production expectations on a consistent basis.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona.
  • 3+ years of experience practicing family law in Arizona.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • A direct, honest approach to client counsel — someone who tells clients what they need to hear, not just what they want to hear.
