Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse family law caseload primarily in Cook County, with regular work in the collar counties (DuPage, Lake, Kane, Will, McHenry, and surrounding areas)
- Handle all phases of family law matters, including divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities and parenting time, child support and maintenance, division of assets, prenuptial/postnuptial agreements, modifications, orders of protection, paternity, and related post-judgment proceedings
- Assist and support senior family law attorneys on complex or high-volume matters as needed
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, agreements, and discovery
- Appear in court for hearings, status conferences, and trials
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the firm's other practice areas when matters involve tax, estate planning, real estate, or business issues
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active license to practice in Illinois (or ability to obtain promptly)
- 3–5 years of substantial family law experience, ideally with significant work in Cook County and familiarity with the collar counties
- Strong courtroom presence and comfort managing hearings and client interactions independently
- Excellent legal writing, research, and organizational skills
- Ability to handle a busy caseload while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism
- Team-oriented mindset with a genuine willingness to support colleagues and grow within a mentoring environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with clients during emotionally challenging matters
- Portable book of business a plus
