Duties:
- Represent clients in family law cases such as divorce, child custody, visitation rights, and spousal support proceedings.
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools like FastCase to build strong case strategies.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and court filings with precision and clarity.
- Negotiate settlements effectively to achieve favorable outcomes while maintaining client interests.
- Prepare for and participate in court hearings, mediations, and trials with confidence and professionalism.
- Advise clients on family law issues
- Maintain meticulous case files and ensure compliance with all legal administrative requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues on litigation matters
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active license in South Carolina
- Proven experience in family law practice (or other litigation experience) with a strong understanding of litigation procedures.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Fastcase; familiarity with research techniques is essential.
- Excellent writing skills demonstrated through clear legal drafting of pleadings and correspondence.
- Strong negotiation skills to facilitate amicable settlements or advocate effectively in court.
