Overview:
The Florida Probate & Family Law Firm is seeking an experienced Florida-licensed Family Law Attorney to join our growing legal team. This position is ideal for an attorney with meaningful family law litigation experience who is comfortable independently managing cases, appearing in court, negotiating resolutions, and guiding clients through complex and often highly emotional legal matters.

The Family Law Attorney will manage both contested and uncontested matters from initial strategy through resolution, working closely with clients, paralegals, senior attorneys, experts, and other professionals. The ideal candidate is a confident advocate, strong legal writer, skilled negotiator, and highly organized case manager who can successfully handle a fast-paced litigation caseload.

This is a hybrid position based out of our Coral Gables office, with periodic in-office attendance and travel for hearings, mediations, depositions, and other case-related matters as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Represent clients in a broad range of family law matters, including divorce, timesharing, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, and related proceedings.
Manage contested and uncontested cases from inception through resolution.
Represent clients at court hearings, mediations, depositions, conferences, evidentiary hearings, and trials as required.
Conduct comprehensive client assessments, analyze relevant facts and law, and develop litigation and settlement strategies aligned with client objectives.
Draft clear, accurate, and persuasive pleadings, motions, discovery, marital settlement agreements, judgments, proposed orders, and other legal documents.
Manage discovery, motion practice, evidentiary issues, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
Handle the equitable distribution of marital assets, including real estate, business interests, retirement accounts, and other complex assets.
Work with financial professionals, valuation experts, and other outside professionals when appropriate.
Advise clients regarding marital property matters and draft prenuptial, postnuptial, and related agreements in accordance with Florida law.
Conduct legal research and develop case strategies that anticipate litigation risks, evidentiary requirements, and potential settlement opportunities.
Negotiate effectively with opposing counsel while advocating for clients' interests and working toward efficient and appropriate resolutions.
Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients regarding case status, deadlines, strategy, expectations, and next steps.
Collaborate closely with paralegals, attorneys, and support staff to ensure matters progress efficiently and work product meets firm standards.
Maintain accurate and organized client files and ensure deadlines, filings, and case requirements are properly managed.
Ensure compliance with the Florida Family Law Rules of Procedure, applicable local rules, and e-filing and e-service requirements.
Independently manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining strong attention to detail, responsiveness, and client service.

Qualifications & Experience:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
Active license to practice law in the State of Florida and in good standing.
3+ years of family law experience, with meaningful experience handling Florida family law litigation.
Experience managing both contested and uncontested family law matters.
Demonstrated courtroom experience, including hearings, mediations, and evidentiary proceedings.
Strong understanding of Florida family law and the Florida Family Law Rules of Procedure.
Experience with equitable distribution and real-estate issues that intersect with family law.
Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills.
Excellent drafting skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong negotiation, advocacy, communication, and client-service skills.
Ability to remain professional and composed when handling highly emotional or high-conflict matters.
Ability to independently manage a substantial caseload, competing priorities, court requirements, and deadlines.
Experience working with legal case-management systems and electronic filing/service platforms is preferred.
Spanish proficiency is a plus.
