Job Overview:We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Attorney to join our growing legal team. While prior family law experience is preferred, candidates with litigation and courtroom experience are strongly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in family law orcourtroom/litigation practice, possess strong drafting and advocacy skills, and demonstrate excellent client communication and organizational abilities. This role involves managing cases from intake through resolution, handling negotiations, discovery, and court appearances, while working collaboratively with paralegals and support staff.
Duties:
- Handle all aspects of family law cases, including divorce, custody, support, and protective orders.
- Conduct client consultations and develop effective legal strategies.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and other legal documents.
- Represent clients at hearings, conferences, and trials.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel in a professional and timely manner.
- Review discovery responses, prepare witnesses, and assist in trial preparation.
- Collaborate with firm staff to ensure cases progress efficiently and deadlines are met.
- Stay current on Louisiana family law statutes, procedures, and local rules.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of family law experience or courtroom/litigation experience required.
- Must be comfortable appearing in court and handling hearings independently.
- Licensed and in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar.
- Strong writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases with attention to detail and organization.
- Professional, empathetic, and client-focused demeanor.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small firm environment.
- Familiarity with local courts and judges in Jefferson Parish and surrounding areas is a plus.
