Description:
Description:The Law Office of Parag L. Amin, P.C. (“LawPLA”) is seeking an experienced California family law litigation attorney to provide specialized legal expertise in matters involving the intersection of family law, business disputes, and civil litigation.
As our business litigation practice continues to grow, we are increasingly encountering matters in which marital dissolution judgments, property determinations, and other family law proceedings have implications for ongoing or contemplated civil litigation. These matters require an attorney who understands not only California family law, but also the procedural and strategic considerations that arise when disputes extend across practice areas.
We are particularly interested in attorneys with substantial experience evaluating and litigating post-judgment matters, including potential grounds for challenging, modifying, or setting aside existing family law judgments where legally appropriate.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our business litigation attorneys to evaluate complex legal and procedural issues, determine appropriate avenues for relief, and develop coordinated litigation strategies that protect clients' interests.
This opportunity is well suited to an accomplished family law attorney who enjoys sophisticated legal analysis, independent case ownership, and the opportunity to contribute specialized expertise to a broader civil litigation practice.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate family law judgments, marital dissolution proceedings, and post-judgment disputes that may affect existing or contemplated civil litigation matters.
- Analyze potential grounds for challenging, modifying, or setting aside family law judgments, including applicable procedural requirements, jurisdictional considerations, and statutory deadlines.
- Assess the relationship between family court orders, property determinations, business ownership interests, financial obligations, and related civil claims.
- Collaborate with business litigation attorneys to develop coordinated legal strategies involving overlapping family law and civil litigation issues.
- Independently manage assigned family law litigation and post-judgment proceedings, including substantive motion practice, discovery, evidentiary development, and contested hearings.
- Prepare and respond to pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other litigation materials.
- Conduct and defend depositions, where appropriate, and prepare witnesses and evidence for contested proceedings.
- Participate in settlement negotiations, mediation, and other dispute-resolution proceedings.
- Provide clear legal analysis and recommendations concerning available remedies, procedural risks, litigation strategy, and potential outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate ownership of assigned matters, including deadlines, client communication, work-product quality, and timely progression.
Qualifications:
- Experience involving complex marital property disputes, business valuation or ownership issues, enforcement of judgments, or the intersection of family law and civil litigation is particularly desirable.
- This is not an entry-level or training position. Candidates must possess the substantive experience and independent judgment necessary to contribute effectively with limited supervision.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
- At least three years of substantive California family law litigation experience, with significant exposure to contested dissolution and post-judgment proceedings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of California family law statutes, civil procedure, evidentiary requirements, and the procedural mechanisms governing relief from family law judgments.
- Experience evaluating or litigating motions to set aside judgments, post-judgment enforcement disputes, or related proceedings.
- Strong legal research, analytical, writing, motion practice, and oral advocacy capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation matters, competing priorities, and procedural deadlines.
- Excellent professional judgment and the ability to identify legal issues that may implicate multiple practice areas.
- Strong client communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues, procedural options, risks, and strategic recommendations clearly and professionally.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, electronic document management, and modern legal practice-management systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote professional environment.
