Job Summary:Family Law Associate Attorney Position
Nuzzo Law, APC seeks an associate attorney for its Orange County office. This position is a full-time hybrid position Monday-Friday.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manage family law cases from client intake to final resolution with minimal oversight and/or hearing including all aspects of case from calendaring, strategizing, preparing documents, completion of discovery, negotiation, and court appearances.
- Prepare for court hearings and depositions including trials, preparation of subpoenas, hearing binders, and the like.
- Maintain and manage calendars and dockets, ensuring all deadlines and appearances are properly tracked and met.
- Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, declarations, discovery, and correspondence.
- Conduct in-depth legal research and apply legal analysis to develop case strategies.
- Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
- Provide guidance and direction to paralegals and legal assistants to ensure efficient workflow and document management.
- Oversee and assist in e-filing, document production, and organization of case files.
- Participate in client consultations and assist with new client onboarding, as needed.
- Maintain and enhance the firm's internal document templates and knowledge base.
- Attend and contribute to firm-sponsored marketing, community outreach, or networking events.
- Participate in the firm's mandatory weekly non-billable team meeting/lunch.
- Exhibit excellent time management skills and demonstrate the ability to maintain consistent billing minimum hours per day.
- Required work in office 5 days per week with flexibility to work 2 days at home per week so long as consistent with the firm's needs.
- Collaborate with team members to support a positive and efficient firm culture.
Position Requirements:
- Must be a member of the California State Bar in good standing and have reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
- Professional and pleasant demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and self-starter.
- 3-5 years' family law experience preferred but not required.
- High level of computer competency in the complete Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe PDF/PRO, Lexis Nexis, West law, Smokeball (Preferred).
- Must be a self-starter who is well organized and can handle multiple tasks with the ability to prioritize work.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude but also able to work independently.
- Must be reliable and responsible.
- Must be flexible and open-minded.
- Must maintain at least 6.5 hours/day of billing.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as a computer, photocopier, postage machine, and scanner.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment while paying close attention to detail.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday unless otherwise agreed by supervisor with exceptional attendance and/or unless needs of the job require longer hours to complete deadlines and meet standards of care.
