We are a victim services organization, seeking a Family Attorney to join our Legal Clinic. In this role, you will represent and provide consultation, conduct legal research, draft documents, and update and maintain files for a diverse population. Your time will be spent navigating and litigating sensitive legal issues such as protective/peace orders, child custody, shepherding survivors through divorce case information and working with a population involved in child abuse and domestic violence. You will work closely with administrative staff, other colleagues, case managers and executive director to have an impact on the rights of survivors of crime and trauma. We are growing and have a significant need, so if you are a self-starter with experience in family law, helping people have a voice and looking to make a difference, you will enjoy working with us.   • Prepare document, contracts, briefs, motions, and other legal documents
  • Conduct legal research
  • Prepare for and attend legal proceedings
  • Provide legal counsel in conjunction with senior associates
  • Litigate cases on behalf of survivors
  • Negotiate on behalf of clients
  • Maintain detailed and accurate client records
  • Work closely with paralegals, case managers and administrative assistants

Do you have:
  • A Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school and bar exam
  • Active membership of the American Bar Association (ABA) or Maryland Bar Association
  • Ability to represent survivors and families
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues to best serve clients
  • A self-starter attitude
