Mokolo Law Firm is a growing Houston-area law firm seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney with approximately 3–5 years of Texas family law experience to join our team.

This position is ideal for an attorney who already knows how to handle a family law case from beginning to end and is ready to take greater ownership of their caseload while working within a collaborative and well-supported legal team.

We are not looking for someone who needs to be taught the fundamentals of family law. We are looking for an attorney who can confidently manage cases, communicate with clients, develop case strategy, negotiate with opposing counsel, and walk into the courtroom prepared to advocate for clients.

The Family Law Attorney will independently manage a caseload involving divorce, child custody, child support, modifications, enforcement actions, protective orders, and other Texas family law matters.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage family law cases from intake through resolution
  • Develop case strategy and provide clients with clear, practical legal advice
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, proposed orders, settlement documents, and other legal filings
  • Prepare for and attend temporary orders hearings, enforcement hearings, mediations, final trials, and other court proceedings
  • Conduct discovery, review evidence, and prepare witnesses
  • Negotiate effectively with opposing counsel
  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients
  • Delegate appropriate work to paralegals and support staff and supervise completion
  • Maintain organized and accurate case files, deadlines, and calendaring
  • Meet the firm's expectations regarding productivity, billing, case management, and client service
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and team members on strategy when appropriate

Our ideal candidate has:
  • 3–5 years of substantive Texas family law experience
  • Active and in good standing membership with the State Bar of Texas
  • Meaningful courtroom and hearing experience
  • Experience independently managing a family law caseload
  • Strong knowledge of the Texas Family Code and Texas Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to develop case strategy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • The ability to manage deadlines and multiple active matters without constant supervision
  • Strong client communication skills, including the ability to manage expectations and difficult conversations professionally
  • Comfort using modern legal technology and case-management systems
  • A team-oriented attitude and willingness to collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff
