Description:
Summary:The Boler College of Business invites applications for a Faculty of Practice position in Business Law beginning in August 2026. The Faculty of Practice will teach business law classes to Boler students. Classes may include general business law taken by most Boler majors, business law for accounting majors (with more technical content required for the CPA exam), and specialized courses with a focus in healthcare law or other areas as appropriate. The Faculty of Practice is expected to teach 4 courses/sections per semester (8 total for the academic year) and participate in academic advising and other service activities.
This position is a full-time, 9-month position and will report to the Chair of the Department of Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach a Full-Time Course Load (typically 4 Courses per Semester) at The Undergraduate and Graduate Levels, Covering Foundational and Advanced Business Law Topics.
- Integrate Current Legal Developments, Case Studies, and Real-World Legal Scenarios Into All Courses to Ensure Practical Relevance.
- Emphasize the Ethical and Social Responsibilities of Businesses and The Role of Law in Promoting Corporate Integrity.
- Effectively Translate Complex, Specialized, and Practical Legal Experiences Into Accessible and Relevant Educational Content for Business Students.
- Provide Career Mentorship Grounded in Practical Knowledge of The Legal Profession and Business Practices.
- Advise Students on Course Selection, Academic Plans, and Career Paths, Leveraging Professional Experience to Guide Those Interested in Law School or Legal Careers.
- Participate in Departmental, College, or University Service Duties, as Appropriate.
- Act as A Liaison Between the University and The Legal/business Community, Potentially Assisting with Professional Networking, Internship Placement, and Alumni Relations.
Required Qualifications:
- A Juris Doctor (j.D.) Degree from An Aba-Accredited Law School Is Required.
- An Active License and Membership in Good Standing with A State Bar Association Is Required. Recently Active (within the Last 2-3 Years) May Be Acceptable.
- A Minimum of 5-7 Years of Full-Time, Practical Legal Experience Practicing in Substantive Areas of Business Law Is Required. This Experience Must Be Sufficient to Demonstrate Subject Matter Expertise.
- Ability to Connect Legal Theory Directly to Current Business Practice and Ethics, Emphasizing Real-World Application, Professionalism, and Practical Risk Management.
- Exceptional Oral and Written Communication Skills Are Essential for Lecturing, Facilitating Case-Based Discussions, and Providing Constructive Feedback on Student Work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in A Role Where the Candidate Was Responsible for Making or Advising on Strategic Business Decisions with Significant Legal Implications.
- Prior Experience Teaching Business Law, Ethics, or Related Legal Subjects at The University Level (including Adjunct Roles or Corporate Training).
- A Professional Record Demonstrating Leadership and Service Within the Legal Community.
- Experience in Healthcare Law or Other Specialized Fields.
This Position Works In-Person from Our Campus in University Heights, Ohio. University Core Business Hours Are Generally 8:30 Am – 5:00 Pm. This Position Will Require Occasional Work to Be Performed Outside of Normal Business Hours Based on Department Operations.
