As an Export Compliance General Counsel here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters related to export compliance, ensuring our operations comply with applicable laws and regulations. Your expertise in export compliance will be instrumental in protecting the interests of Honeywell Aerospace and driving our success as best-in-class compliance program.

As a global company, Honeywell has vast operations worldwide, and it is critical that the company maintains strong U.S. and non-U.S. export compliance programs in all countries in which it conducts business. Your legal acumen and operational insights for managing both U.S. and non-U.S. export control regimes will enable Honeywell to operate ethically and effectively in the global market, as well as in critical growth regions. You will be expected to support trade professionals outside of the United States in maintaining compliance operations that meet Honeywell's high compliance standards.

You will report directly to our Vice President Global Trade, within the Honeywell Aerospace Legal Department, and you'll work out of one of our key Aerospace sites in either Washington, DC OR Phoenix, AZ and work on a hybrid work schedule. You will remotely manage a team of experienced trade professionals in the APAC region.

Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for all legal matters related to export compliance.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies and program requirements to mitigate risks associated with export issues under U.S export regulations.
  • Support the growth of non-U.S. compliance programs throughout the APAC region.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on export compliance to various levels of the Honeywell Aerospace organization, including other colleagues within the Export & Sanctions team and the Honeywell Aerospace executive leadership team.
  • Oversee M&A activity for the Export Compliance organization.
  • Support trade-related investigations and disclosures.
  • Engage with regulators and government representatives to position and advocate for Honeywell Aerospace's initiatives and compliance program.
  • Drive Honeywell Aerospace's growth culture through a business-forward mindset that prioritizes compliance.

Qualifications:
You must have:
  • 7+ years of experience practicing law with a focus on export controls.
  • Deep expertise of all aspects of U.S. export control laws and regulations, with a working familiarity of key non-U.S. jurisdictions as well.
  • Excellence in legal research and drafting corresponding written and verbal analyses.
  • Familiarity with compliance tools and technologies relevant to export compliance.
  • Experience in developing compliance and conducting risk assessments with the stated goal of strengthening Honeywell Aerospace's trade compliance program and providing proactive strategies to mitigate risk.
