Description:
Growing construction law and business law firm has an opening for a lateral associate attorney (10-15 years in practice) in its Dallas office. The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience in construction law and litigation, arbitration, contracts, insurance issues, and business disputes. Candidate must be able to assume 1st chair and 2nd chair roles in construction cases, so routine experience in conducting discovery, drafting pleadings and appearing in court/arbitration hearings is a requirement. Compensation is negotiable, but commensurate with experience.Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Prior litigation and trial experience as a 1st chair attorney
- Experience in analyzing, reviewing, editing, and drafting legal documents
- Superior logical reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical skills
- Experience conducting and defending depositions
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work with, and meet the expectations of, clients who demand excellence
- JD from accredited law school and licensed to practice in Texas
- At least 10 years experience in litigation
Responsibilities:
- Assist and collaborate with senior attorneys on litigation matters
- Accept assignments as a first chair litigation attorney, as well as some second chair assignments
- Manage some projects and cases from start to finish
- Conduct and defend depositions, prepare and respond to discovery, and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Legal research and analysis
- Attend hearings, mediations, trial, and arbitration
