Role Description:This is a full-time, on-site role for an Attorney – Estate Planning and/or Real Estate at A Real Estate Attorney in Center Moriches, NY.
Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:
Estate Planning & Administration
- Conduct client consultations and develop estate planning strategies.
- Draft wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, Medicaid Asset Protection Trusts (MAPTs), powers of attorney, health care proxies, and living wills.
- Advise clients on Medicaid and elder law planning, including asset protection strategies.
- Counsel high-net-worth clients on sophisticated estate and tax planning.
- Prepare and file probate and administration petitions in Surrogate's Court.
- Handle contested Surrogate's Court proceedings including will contests, spousal right of election, and contested accountings.
- Guide fiduciaries through estate and trust administration.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts of sale for residential and commercial transactions.
- Represent clients at closings; review and clear title issues.
- Draft deeds, transfer documents, affidavits, and closing packages.
- Coordinate with lenders, title companies, agents, and clients to ensure smooth closings.
Qualifications:
- JD and admission to the New York State Bar (required).
- 3+ years of experience in estate planning, probate, elder law, and/or real estate law.
- Demonstrated ability to handle contested Surrogate's Court proceedings strongly preferred.
- Experience advising clients on Medicaid planning, elder planning, and high-net-worth estate planning.
- Ability to draft and review documents independently with minimal oversight.
- Strong knowledge of New York real property law and/or Surrogate's Court practice.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong client communication and relationship management skills.
