Job Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Attorney to join our very busy law firm. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in estate planning, trust administration and probate. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to conduct thorough legal research. The Attorney will be responsible for providing legal advice, representing clients in court when needed, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Position Description:
The Estate Planning Attorney will work directly with the Principal, and work closely with members of the Firm to develop individually designed estate plans, draft estate planning documents and research legal and tax issues. In addition, the Attorney will meet with clients to guide them, and their families, through the probate and trust administration process.
Expectations:
- Excellent communication and legal writing skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent case management skills
- Experience with complex estate planning, estate administration and probate pleadings
- Experience with drafting estate planning documents, including wills and trusts
- Experience administering complex estates, trusts, and lifetime planning objectives, administer trusts at various stages, such as Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts ("ILITs");
- Extensive knowledge and experience with complex fiduciary income (Form 1041), charitable (Form 5227), gift tax returns (Form 709) and estate tax returns (Form 706)
- Five or more years of related work experience with a law firm, trust department, or similar environment preferred.
- Network in the community and with other professionals
- Supervise and delegate work to Paralegals
- Mentorship of Paralegals
- Mature, wise, poised, friendly and tech savvy
- Driven to learn and grow professionally and personally
- Massachusetts bar required
- Other New England bar admissions and LLM in taxation a plus
