Description:
Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll is one of the largest and most diversified plaintiff-side litigation firms in the country, with more than 100 attorneys in eight offices. We champion the causes of real people—workers, consumers, small business owners, investors, and whistleblowers—working to deliver corporate reforms and fair markets for the common good. Our firm has earned an international reputation by litigating complex, high-stakes cases, many of which have resulted in landmark decisions on previously untried issues involving antitrust, securities, consumer rights, civil rights, employee benefits, human rights, and other far-reaching matters.

Associates in the ERISA Practice Group play an active role in all aspects of litigation: new case investigation, brief writing, pre-trial discovery, including taking and defending depositions, and appearing in the federal courts. Because ERISA issues are frequently taken up by the U.S. Supreme Court, the ERISA Practice Group often is involved in both amicus briefing and litigation before the Supreme Court and circuit courts. This position would be an ideal match for someone who is interested in a career in federal litigation, and who is committed to protecting employees' rights.

Job Requirements:
  • 1-5 years of litigation experience (which may include prior clerkship experience)
  • Strong academic background and excellent analytical and writing skills; and ability to manage multiple responsibilities and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with court-imposed deadlines.

The position is preferably based in our Washington, D.C. or Minneapolis, MN office. Associates have the opportunity for remote work depending on their location.

We offer a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The expected annual salary range (excluding bonus) for this position is between $160,000-$184,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors.

To be considered for this opportunity, please submit a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and law school transcript. Application materials should be submitted in the order outlined above, and as a single PDF document.

Candidates must be either (1) an active member of the state bar where the employment is based, or (2) eligible and willing to apply for that membership within 90 days of employment at the firm.
