The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree from an ABA-accredited law school; recent law school graduates will be considered for a Fall 2026 start date following successful July bar exam results.
- Demonstrated interest in and/or knowledge of environmental and natural resources laws including:
- State laws related to environmental clean-up and remediation, wetlands (removal/fill), water rights, water quality, air quality, hazardous and solid wastes, fish and wildlife
- Federal laws such as CERCLA, RCRA, SDWA, ESA, CWA, and NEPA
- Law school or other background in Environmental/Natural Resources Law is a plus, including undergraduate degree in studies pertaining to environment or natural resources.
- A track record demonstrating exemplary organizational skills and teamwork.
- Excellent academic record and skills in legal research, analysis and writing.
- Oregon State Bar and Washington State Bar admission; for recent law school graduates, passage of the bar exam will be required before starting work at the firm this fall.

In order to cultivate our collaborative culture and better serve our firm clients, most lawyer positions at Schwabe require in-person work in our offices on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with flexibility on Mondays and Fridays to work offsite.
