Description:

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is seeking a rising second year law student to intern with the Century City Entertainment, Technology and Advertising (ETA) Practice Group and Meta as part of the Meta 1L Summer Associate Experience for the Summer of 2024.

Sheppard Mullin was founded in Los Angeles in 1927 and currently has more than 1100 attorneys practicing in 12 offices in the United States and four offices abroad. Sheppard Mullin's Century City office currently has over 100 attorneys who practice in a variety of areas including Entertainment, Technology and Advertising; Business Litigation; Corporate Transactions and Securities; Labor & Employment; and more.

Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world. Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology.

During this hybrid summer internship, Sheppard Mullin has partnered with Meta in connection with their Meta 1L Summer Associate Experience.

The internship will provide an opportunity to work directly with both the Sheppard Mullin Entertainment group and Meta's in-house counsel. The goals of the program are to provide students who are committed to furthering diversity with an opportunity to foster connections and experience roles as outside counsel in the entertainment and digital media landscape and as part of Meta's in-house team.

The Sheppard Mullin entertainment internship provides real world experience and exposure to the international multi-disciplinary practice of entertainment law. As part of the ETA team, the Intern will receive valuable hands-on exposure and working knowledge while completing challenging objectives.

While with Meta, the Intern will be assigned a host team that will provide the Intern with the following experiences:
  • Shadowing in-house counsel in client and/or outside counsel meetings;
  • Discussion sessions with in-house counsel on the host team to do deeper dive into a practice area; and
  • Attending staff meetings and/or other team meetings and events.

The Intern will also attend a series of seminars during their time with Meta. These seminars will include presentations by various teams within Meta Legal that give the Intern an overview of the legal issues Meta handles and fireside chats/panels with leadership.
