Description:
CSI OverviewCSI is a criminal justice agency tasked with protecting Montanans by regulating two of the state's largest industries: securities and insurance. We protect Montanans through public education, regulation of covered entities, and vigorous enforcement of the law, ensuring accountability for fraudsters and justice for their victims. For more information, please visit our “About CSI” webpage HERE.
What You'll Do:
- Manage cases from referral through final judgment. This includes drafting pleadings and motions, oral arguments, depositions, trials and hearings, and representing the agency in appeals. You will exercise meaningful autonomy over your casework, while being supported by a team of attorneys and paralegals who value collegiality, excellence, and public service.
- Prosecute criminal cases involving insurance and securities law violations in state district court. This includes pretrial work such as obtaining investigative subpoenas and search warrants, advising investigators on legal questions and potential trial issues, and drafting charging memoranda.
- Represent CSI in administrative actions, including enforcement actions against regulated entities, insurance and securities fraud cases, and licensing cases.
- Represent CSI in civil litigation.
- Perform other tasks in support of CSI's mission, including coordinating with state, federal, and tribal partners to prosecute white-collar criminal cases; drafting laws and administrative rules; and presenting at public outreach events and continuing legal education seminars.
