Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is seeking a third- or fourth-year transactional associate (Class of 2022 or 2023) to support the Energy and Infrastructure industry team in the firm's Houston office.

The team seeks candidates who have experience supporting a broad range of sophisticated transactional matters, including:
  • Structured energy transactions, including drafting and negotiating principal and ancillary documents and managing deal execution
  • Complex energy finance and commodities trading matters, including coordinating diligence, advising on transaction structure, and supporting negotiations
  • Power purchase agreements and other commercial transactions
  • Transactions spanning the power, renewables and alternative energy, natural gas, and upstream oil and gas sectors
  • Direct client interaction, coordinating internal specialist teams, and supporting closing and post-closing matters

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Class of 2022 or 2023 (3rd–4th year) with meaningful transactional experience (energy/infrastructure experience preferred)
  • Excellent drafting and issue-spotting skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent matters and drive workstreams forward
  • Team-oriented mindset, with the ability to mentor junior team members and work effectively across offices
