Description:
The Opportunity:This is a full ownership role. You'll carry a manageable caseload of California employment matters — discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour class actions — and you'll manage them from intake through resolution with the support of dedicated law clerks, a litigation coordinator, and firm-wide operational infrastructure.
You won't be handed warm files with someone else's strategy baked in. You'll develop case strategy, guide clients, and make the calls. What you won't have to do is fight for resources, generate business, or justify your hours on a spreadsheet.
What You'll Do:
- Manage a caseload of California employment litigation matters with full case ownership
- Develop litigation strategy, conduct discovery, take and defend depositions
- Draft motions, briefs, and settlement demands
- Advise and communicate directly with clients throughout their cases
- Collaborate with firm leadership on case selection and litigation approach
- Contribute to a culture of excellence, accountability, and intentional practice
What We're Looking For:
We're not hiring for raw productivity. We're hiring for judgment, ownership, and craft.
The right candidate:
- Has 5+ years of California employment litigation experience (plaintiff or defense)
- Holds an active California Bar license
- Can manage cases independently from filing through resolution
- Writes and argues with clarity and precision
- Communicates proactively with clients
- Operates with genuine accountability: owns outcomes, flags problems early, asks for help when warranted
- If you've spent years doing excellent work inside a firm where it felt invisible, this is a different environment.
