Kaufman Dolowich LLP is seeking a talented and driven Employment Litigation Attorney with 5+ years of experience to join our growing Employment Practices Group in San Fransisco, California.This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and entrepreneurial team within a nationally recognized law firm of more than 250 attorneys nationwide. Our Employment Practices Group partners with employers across a broad range of industries, handling complex employment disputes, labor matters, workplace investigations, and high-exposure wage and hour litigation. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation, advocacy, and client-management skills, with experience independently managing sophisticated employment matters through all phases of litigation.
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage all phases of employment litigation from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation-related filings
- Conduct and defend depositions and participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and other dispute resolution proceedings
- Attend and advocate at court appearances, hearings, arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and trials
- Handle matters involving employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, PAGA claims, and other employment-related matters
- Represent employers in investigations and proceedings before federal, state, and local agencies
- Advise and counsel employers on workplace issues, employment law compliance, personnel matters, and risk management strategies
- Manage discovery, motion practice, investigations, and case deadlines in both state and federal courts
- Communicate directly with clients, provide strategic guidance, and maintain strong client relationships
- Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups to develop litigation strategies and achieve favorable outcomes
Qualifications:
- Admission to practice in California required
- Minimum of 5 years of employment litigation experience
- Experience handling employment litigation matters in both state and federal courts
- Demonstrated experience drafting and arguing motions, conducting depositions, and managing complex litigation matters
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to independently manage an active caseload and prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to exceptional client service
Preferred Experience:
- Employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination litigation
- Wage and hour litigation, including collective actions, class actions, and PAGA matters
- Traditional labor law matters and labor-management relations
- Investigations before the U.S. Department of Labor, California Department of Industrial Relations, California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, EEOC, and state and local human rights agencies
- Experience appearing before the National Labor Relations Board in matters involving union organizing, collective bargaining, unfair labor practices, representation proceedings, and labor arbitrations
